A lot of people say about TV – sometimes bad and the other time good. It is hard to believe if somebody says of we read somewhere that TV makes us smarter. In fact, a group of people can it an idiot box. Why? Is TV really so bad?

TV is actually not bad, content is bad. It is important to keep a strict eye on what is being watched everyday by children or even by elders. Whatever we watch has an effect on our mind. Just take an example, whatever happens around us, we are influenced by that. In the same manner, the show we watch on TV affect our mind and behavior. Still the question hovers around the mind, Does Watching TV Makes Us Smarter?

Scientifically, TV makes us smart, which is quite surprising that does not mean that we keep on spending huge number of hours on TV and nothing else.

Easy to Understand Complex Things

According to a research, ‘people who tend watch TV shows and other programmes on the regular basis able to understand complex concepts thoroughly as compared to others.” They are able to understand concepts easily and comfortably. Our smartness depends on the show that we watch. So, if this is true then choose intellectual shows for your child.

Choice Matters

If you are watching a show based on animals or some educational programs then you are able o perform better and higher in reading the mind. Here reading the mind implies your enhancement in assessing the ability to correctly read other people’s emotions by looking at them. On the other hand, if you watch complex plots based on written narratives then also it may increase the curative powers in one.

Increase Social and Emotional Intelligence

From years and years we are hearing that watching Television will spoil us but the evidence hasn’t come at all. A recent conclusion shows watching fictional based television enhances social intelligence. A study conducted in this regard. In the study, there were two groups – group one watches documentary shows and other group watches fictional shows. An hour was spent with both the groups and certain questions were asked. It is unbelievable that fiction watchers scored notably higher as compared to the documentary viewers. Thus, it is concluded that people who are tend to watch fiction based shows have more intelligence socially and emotionally.

TV has changed over years. Shows have now become multifaceted, political, engaging and they are more related to read and troubling situations. With the growth of landscape of popular culture, shows/movies have become in the same way. To do something different, shows are based on real life of people. They teach us several things. Suppose if we watch a show based on country’s struggle, we become emotional, we also learn so many facts what happened in the past. So, story line, actions, conceptualization has its effect on mind.

To sum up, gone are the days when people criticize watching television. It has now become a whole source of entertainment plus a way to increase our intelligence. It entertains us and enhances intelligence in us. However, don’t forget, limit yourself as too much of anything is harmful.
